Businesses We Support

The Lake Clinic-Cambodia

The Lake Clinic-Cambodia (TLC) is a true grassroots organization that provides medical care and health education to families living in remote and isolated areas on the Tonle Sap Lake and its tributaries. The communities on the Tonle Sap are floating villages of fishermen and trades people who provide the country of Cambodia with one-third of their protein. Healthcare can be more than 100 kilometers away and travel is possible only by boat. The average family income is roughly $2 per day, and perhaps to explain the situation best it is simply to say that if someone is ill, the cost for diesel alone is around $40 to $50 to bring that ill person to the nearest facility. It is often a harsh environment in which people must make harsh decisions.

ConCERT is a non-profit social enterprise based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. They are another great grassroots organization that get to the core of what Cambodia really needs. If you want to help, speak to ConCert and they will give you an informed decision, so your help really reaches the people it should without having a negative impact. ConCERT’s mission is to reduce poverty by increasing the benefits from tourism and other sources for the most needy people of Cambodia. It’s difficult enough to increase the amount of funding and other activities that tourists and other supporters provide; it’s much more challenging to ensure that this support brings real benefits. ConCERT helps people who wish to help to find constructive ways to do so.
